GRAND CANAL TOUR

ISLANDS OF VENICE – MURANO, BURANO, TORCELLO

Don’t miss this half day cruise to the most famous Venetian islands, known throughout the world for their picturesque scenery, handicraft and history! Departure from near Saint Mark’s square: after an enjoyable trip across Saint Mark’s basin, towards the lido and then back along the north coastline of the city, we first stop in Murano, the island of the glass, to visit an artistic glass factory and see the glass manufactured and blown. The ride goes on to the next stop Burano, admiring, on the way to, the natural environment and the minor islands spread all around and pointed out by our tour leader explaining at the microphone Free time in Burano, the typical fishing island with its light and coloured contrasts, its chocolate box painted houses and renowned for the ancient art of the lace making and embroidery and for the fresh home made characteristic cakes you shouldn’t miss to try. Torcello, the most ancient inhabited island will be our last stop. The visit of the Byzantine cathedral is highly recommended for the appeal of its remote past and its magnificent mosaics representing the last judgement.

ST.MARK SQUARE AND ITS MONUMENTS INCLUDING DOGE’S PALACE

This is the most classical panoramic tour through the highlights of Saint Mark’s square and the history of Venice, which for centuries ruled a vast empire. Il Burchiello

Il Burchiello cruises along the Brenta River with departure from Padua or Venice on alternate days. The excursion is highly interesting from the historical, cultural and artistic point of view. Along the Canal we can admire more than fifty villas, once summer residences of the Venetian nobility. While the cruise takes us through some really beautiful spots, we can appreciate the high technological value of the engineering work carried out in order to create this ship canal, allowing the development of civilisation over the years. Along the way, Il Burchiello® stops at three of the most important mansions: Villa Pisani, Barchessa Valmarana or Villa Widmann and Villa Foscari "Malcontenta".

TYPICAL VENETIAN “BACARO AND CHICHETI” TOUR

We first go to visit the fruit and vegetable market and fish market to see where the local Venetians do their shopping every day. Then we visit a typical Bacaro "Osteria Sora el Ponte". Here you can find all kind of typical small starters based on fish, sea food, meat, and vegetables and taste the typical Venetian drinks "spritz" or "l’ombra de vin" (glass of wine) then we go on to one of the most famous bacaro of Venice “Ai Do Mori”. Here they have more *than 200 kinds of wine and you can taste different kind of Italian hams, cheese and also a lot of small Venetian specialities. Then we stop our "Bacari tour" in a historical bar in erbaria “da Bomba” for a last special spritz called “spritz de Bomba . This place is well known by all the Venetians. This tour lasts about 2 hours. Tour includes guide and chicheti and wine tasting in some typical Venetian bacari.

TRANSFER FROM AIRPORT

Shared (shuttle) transfer from Venice Airport “Marco Polo” to hotels in Venice Historic Centre. Meet and greet with our assistant and board on a shared basis a boat from the Airport to the hotels in Venice. Boat will leave about every 45 minutes from the Airport so you may be asked to wait a little before boarding; the boat it may have other stops before your one. Stops will be only in the hotels located on Grand Canal or Venetian Lagoon, for all other hotels the stop will be in the nearest pier available
